Ahhh Danzig....always been a fan. The first song of his I heard was "Mother" and I've been hooked since.
He has a newly released album, an album of...get this...Elvis covers. You read that right. This actutally sounds like it has potential considering Elvis and Danzig have a similar singing style.
So much for that potential....
This album is bad. The other music reviewers are right and in the words of one glasses-wearing reviewer , "THIS ALBUM IS NOT GOOD". God, this thing sucks.
Let's start with the vocals. They're awkward as hell. It almost sounds like Glen is singing Elvis karaoke at some seedy bar in the Deep South. At times, you forget this is Danzig singing and not somebody's intoxicated uncle at little Johnny's 4th birthday party. Some of the songs are unlistenable because of his singing. It's painful to hear and that's a painful thing for me to say because Danzig has an awesome voice.
Now, for the music. It sounds distorted and disjointed. It's like they used a shitty local band to play. It's awful.
The songs.
Oh my God, I've never heard a butchered cover of "Fever" until now. I didn't know Elvis sang that by the way. I knew Peggy Lee was the original and Madonna covered it in 1992. Madonna's version is waaaaaay better.
"Baby Let's Play House" makes my ears bleed. His vocals are at their worst on that one.
"When It Rains, It Really Pours" is equally atrocious. Not only is Danzig's singing bad, the music is fucking annoying.
The only song on this album that's decent is the opening track "Is It So Strange". He sounds pretty good, even if the music still sounds shitty.
What else is there to say about this...thing? It's horrendous. Hell, that bootleg album made up of Elvis's WORST songs sounds 1000x better than this! Outsider artists have released better albums. Yikes. This was a hard review for me to do because I really like Danzig's music. If you're a Danzig fan, Misfits fan, Elvis fan, or even if you're a "bad albums" fan; I advise you to STAY AWAY from Danzig Sings Elvis!!! It's that bad
